1 1/2 ounce butter
- 1 1/2 (3 tablespoons) ounce flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1/4 onion, minced
- dash nutmeg
- Salt & pepper to taste
Blend flour and butter in saucepan to combine over medium heat; add cold milk slowly, stirring. Add onion, seasonings, and bring to broil, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.
Optional: To make into basil Alfredo, add ribbon cut basil and some Parmesan cheese. Or alternate layer of bechamel and layer of basil pesto made with Parmesan.
